Summer Solstice

$450.00

I created this piece last year at the summer solstice. It honors the fire of summer, the sun and all the sun gives us here on earth; abundance of food, warmth and light. Even in winter the gifts from summer continue as we warm ourselves with the wood fallen and gathered in summer, as we consume the food we’ve put away from the harvest, and as we dream of spring.

This piece was created with a base circle of clear glass, upon which I ‘painted’ with crushed glass, building up colors and layers. Each firing takes 12 hours and this piece was fired multiple times until I was pleased with the outcome.
